Course Outline

1. Welcome & Setup

We'll start with an overview of what we'll cover and how you can get the most out of the class. Then we will walk you through downloading and installing all the tools you need to start making games!

2. Swift Basics

Nick will be teaching this section of the course. Making video games requires coding. In this section of the class you'll learn coding basics with Apple's new programming language Swift. Swift was designed with beginners in mind so you'll pick it up in no time. Nick is starting from square one so if you've never coded before, don't worry. Nick's got your back If you already know a thing or two about coding, you can skip this section.

3. Endless 3-D Game with SceneKit

Jared now takes over for teaching. Jared will walk you step by step through making an app like ZigZag. The main focus of this section of the course is to learn SceneKit, which is Apple's framework for making 3-D games.

4. 2-D Platformer Game with SpriteKit

Jared will continue teaching by helping you make a 2-D platform game like Mario. The main focus of this section is to teach you the basics of SpriteKit, which is Apple's framework for making 2-D games.

5. Endless 2-D Runner Game with SpriteKit

In this section, Jared dives even deeper into SpriteKit by helping you make a game like Geometry Dash. This is where you'll really lock in your game programming skills.

6. Making Your Own Game

Jared and Nick come back together to help walk you through making your own game. We'll help you plan, create and eventually get your game on the App Store!
